Motion Graphics: Port of Cork – Border Control Inspection Post Video

Our motion graphics team created this video to highlight an important issue for our client Port of Cork Company.  Every year, more than 2,000 containers filled with fresh produce are diverted from the Port of Cork because it lacks the necessary agricultural inspection facilities at a Border Control Post (BCP). These containers are instead rerouted to other European ports, such as Southampton or Antwerp. They then return to Ireland for required inspections in Dublin before being transported back to Cork via the road network.

This circuitous route results in an additional 146,000 food miles per month and over €5 million in extra transport costs. Establishing a permanent BCP at the Port of Cork, or allowing temporary exemptions so cargo can travel from Cork to Dublin for inspections, would significantly reduce these costs and the environmental impact caused by the unnecessary re-routing of goods.

The Port of Cork Company wanted a video to portray the message that a solution can be found to lower costs, create a more environmentally friendly and efficient process, and support the sustainable development of both the southern region and the national economy.
