CRY Ireland Launches Ambitious Five-Year Strategic Plan

New roadmap set to expand critical services, awareness, and fundraising

CRY Ireland (Cardiac Risk in the Young Ireland) unveiled its strategic plan for 2025-2030, marking a significant step forward in enhancing its services and increasing awareness of the support provided by the Charity.  Founded in 2002, CRY Ireland aims to be the go-to organisation across the island of Ireland for supporting families impacted by Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) or those living with an Inherited Cardiac Condition (ICC).

The strategic plan is structured around five key pillars: Family Support, Awareness, Fundraising, Research, and Governance. The plan outlines a clear roadmap to enhance the services provided by CRY Ireland and increase awareness of its offerings.

A central component of the plan is the Family Support Programme, which has evolved from a phone support service into a comprehensive support system. To date, the programme has assisted nearly 500 families, providing emotional support, educational resources, community events, workshops, online meetings, and holistic services. The charity also helps over 100 individuals annually through counselling and is committed to expanding these services and improving accessibility by 2030.

The plan also outlines the fundraising strategy, with CRY Ireland relying on the generous support of individuals, communities, and organisations to sustain its vital work as a self-funded charity.

Speaking on the strategic launch, Noelle Condon, Chair of CRY Ireland, said

“The need for CRY Ireland’s support for families affected by Sudden Cardiac Death and Inherited Cardiac Conditions has never been more critical. As we launch our ambitious five-year strategy, I am filled with hope and determination for the future of our charity. Our plan is centred around five key pillars: Family Support, Awareness, Fundraising, Research, and Governance. With the support of our Board, team, and volunteers, we aim to raise awareness of our services and continue providing compassionate and confidential support to our community. Fundraising will be vital in achieving our goals, and we deeply appreciate the continued generosity of our supporters. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we support.

Jacqui Hurley, Ambassador of CRY Ireland, also added: “Having experienced the devastation of losing a cousin to Sudden Cardiac Death, I know how important CRY Ireland’s support is during such an unimaginable loss. CRY Ireland’s services are a lifeline, offering guidance, comfort, and a sense of community to those who are grieving. This strategic plan will allow CRY Ireland to reach even more families, and I encourage everyone to support in any way they can—whether through fundraising, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness.”
