Fleetwood Technical Manager and Paint Expert, John Hetherton, has shared his top tips and tricks to ensure your home is ready for its paint refresh as we prepare for the ultimate time to paint your house. John explains:

• “If the walls you are painting have algae, moss, or lichen, we recommend that you treat prior to power-washing with Fungicidal Wash. If heavily contaminated, ensure to dilute 1-3 or 1-2.

• Allow the product to work for 2-3 days. It is important to give yourself a window of dry weather before starting on the project.

• Power-wash the walls after this step. If the surface appears chalky (test this by rubbing your hand on the surface and see if you get a film on your fingers), use Masonry Primer to bind all friable material, creating a sound surface.

• As a guide to quantities required for a smooth surface, estimate 10m2/litre per coat. Rough pebble dashed surfaces have a greater surface area therefore, can require up to 1 1⁄2 times more paint.”
