Plan Ireland, the children’s development agency, will be hosting a vibrant and intriguing Photographic Exhibition featuring photographs from the World Press Photo winner (2005), Finbarr O’Reilly, entitled “Children of Burkina Faso – A Day in the Life”.
The Exhibition which is supported by Western Union, contains over 40 photographs and reflects the central themes that make up Plan’s development work – health, education, livelihoods, habitat and relationship building. The images are positive and animated despite the fact that life for children in Burkina Faso, located in the heart of West Africa, is extremely difficult and could not be more different from the lives of Irish children.
‘Children of Burkina Faso – A Day in the Life’ is part of an ongoing campaign by Plan Ireland to tour Ireland, meeting the many sponsors and stakeholders who have been supportive to the work that the NGO carries out in 48 developing countries throughout the world, supporting children and their communities.
Speaking in advance of the event David Dalton CEO of Plan Ireland stated “The event is an opportunity for us to show people in the Cork area the work we carry out. We have over 8,500 sponsors throughout Ireland and tonight is our way of saying a special thank you to our Cork sponsors as well as introducing Plan Ireland to many more Cork people in a personal way.”
“When someone decides to sponsor a child, they are not just helping that child, but a whole community and we are delighted to have the opportunity tonight to show our sponsors first hand where their money is going and to show that a small amount can achieve so much.” David added.
Admission to the special one night photographic exhibition is free of charge, but as numbers are limited, anyone interested in attending should contact plan on Freephone 1800 829 829 to reserve your place.
