Last night, Tuesday 8th March, the Ambassador Chinese Restaurant on Cook St, Cork thanked local Cork businesses at a special event held in their premises. The intimate event took place in one of the Ambassadors private and Corporate Dining rooms and the night started with guests enjoying a glass of wine on arrival, whilst the sentimental Chinese background music got everyone in the relaxed mood. Guests including representatives from Hayfield Manor, Hotel Isaacs, Jurys Inn, Cork International Airport, Number Forty Eight, Garnish House, Blarney Stone and Ashley Hotel, were treated to a selection of canapés showcasing the variety of Chinese cuisine available at the restaurant. Magician Liam Sheehan added a magic sparkle to the evening with his range of entertaining and mindboggling tricks which left the crowd amazed.
William Wong has been working for the Ambassador Restaurant for the last 20 years and considers himself very much a Corkonian, although born in Hong Kong. When his parents first came to Cork in the early 1970’s they ran the Yangtze River, one of the first Chinese takeaways in Cork, which was located on Barrack Street. They then started the Ambassador Restaurant twenty-four years ago. The building is almost 100 years old and retains the charm that has helped to make the Ambassador the favourite Chinese fine dining experience in Cork, since 1987.
William thanked guests on the night for all their referrals and support during 2010: “Cork’s friendliness and generosity is one of the many reasons I enjoy being here. I love how Cork businesses work together and generally help each other out. We really appreciate all the business that comes our way from hotels and guest houses during the year. This was our opportunity to thank them.”
William then went on to give a few interesting facts about the Ambassador, including; “We take orders until 11pm, giving travelling guests the opportunity to have a fine dining experience late at night. There is free parking to all our customers in the nearby Grand Parade Car Park (Just keep your receipt) and we cater fully for those with special dietary requirements by providing extensive menus suitable for customers with both Vegetarian and Coeliac needs.”
William also went on to talk about the recently celebrated Chinese New Year – The year of the Golden Rabbit.
William stated, “This is bound to be a hopping year for everyone! Also for anyone born in this year it is said that they are reasonably friendly individuals who enjoy the company of a group of good friends – a fitting description of an evening at The Ambassador Chinese Restaurant.”
