30 budding chefs from throughout the country, from as young as five years old, have been selected as finalists at the upcoming Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards, which take place on Friday, November 2nd in Dublin.
Three finalists in each of the ten categories were selected for their unique recipes and will now prepare their dishes in front of the esteemed judges on Friday morning, November 2nd at Cook’s Academy in Dublin.
They will then attend the black-tie gala evening awards ceremony in the Shelbourne Hotel that night where the ten overall winners will be announced. The ten category winners will each receive 1,500 worth of prizes, plus the opportunity to be showcased in the Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards Cookbook.
The youngest finalist in 2012 is five year old Grainne Moran from Dundalk who created ‘Angry Birds Sambos’ in the ‘Deli-Delicious’ category. Commenting on her dish Grainne says “I love playing angry birds on my dad’s ipod and I think these sandwiches are cool! They are really easy to make and are really tasty”.
Judging this year’s competition are renowned celebrity chefs Kevin Dundon, Catherine Fulvio and Catherine Leydon, as well as Vanessa Greenwood of Cooks Academy and Gina Miltiadou, Publisher of Easy Food Magazine and Co-Founder of Zahra Media Group.
Gina Miltiadou, Co-Founder of Zahra Publishing said, “We are very much looking forward to this year’s final. The standard of this year’s entries was exceptional, which made our job as judges very difficult!
