This will be a fundraising event to benefit Build4Life/Cystic Fibrosis a very popular charity which is fundraising to build dedicated facilities for people living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) who attend Cork University Hospital. The Charity is working alongside Cork University Hospital Charity who is fundraising to build a new state of the art €1.5 million Paediatric facility in CUH.
Joe Browne, founder of Build4Life/Cystic Fibrosis and now the Fundraising Manager of Cork University Hospital Charity, is delighted that a movie with such a moving and powerful message is being showcased in Cork. “Foreverland is a very powerful movie that I believe will have a deep connection with the people of Cork who have taken the issues of people living with CF to their hearts. The movie, created by someone living with CF, will help educate people on CF and how it affects people living with the illness as well as their loved ones”.
Foreverland, tells the story of Will Valley, a young man living with Cystic Fibrosis, who is tasked with delivering his friend’s ashes to a legendary healing shrine in Mexico. Joined by the sister of his fallen friend, Will embarks on an epic journey down the Pacific Coast Highway to the desert heart of Baja, encountering a memorable cast of characters along the way. In the spirit of Into the Wild and Little Miss Sunshine, it’s about dreams and the courage to pursue them, about hope, laughter, and life’s small miracles.
The movie was written and directed by Maxwell McGuire, who is living with CF and therefore had a personal insight into the movie’s storyline. Maxwell will be attending the event in Cork and will be giving an introduction to the movie before it is showcased to his Irish fans.
The movie has particular resonance with Irish people, as in Ireland we have the highest prevalence of Cystic Fibrosis in the World and we also have the most severe forms of Cystic Fibrosis globally Maxwell says “The success of the Build4Life Charity is phenomenal, and I know from Joe that support for the Charity in Cork has been so strong, it’s only fitting that we premier the film in the city that has been so supportive of people living with CF. I look forward to meeting many of the charity’s supporters at the Premier.”
The event will be one of style and elegance with a red carpet reception with entertainment, tapas and wine being served to guests. Tickets are available at €50 each.
