The event, which will feature Harpist and Singer, Marina Cassidy and Flautist Miriam O’Sullivan-Long, will take place on Sunday 13th May at 7:30pm at the Killarney Oaks Hotel.
Event Organiser and Kerry Choral Union Musical Director, Sharon Reidy stated “Since the Kerry Choral Union was formed in 1980 we perform six concerts a year half of which are organised to fundraise for worthy causes. We are honoured to be performing in memory of this great Irishman and are thrilled to do our little bit to keep his memory and the memory of what he achieved during World War II alive.”
“We have a current membership of 83, made up of talented vocalists from throughout the county and we are all looking forward to giving a very special performance to celebrate the great deeds of the Monsignor and his colleagues in the Rome Escape Line”
Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Committee Member Jerry O’Grady stated “We are constantly looking for different ways to fundraise and at the same time keep the memory of the Monsignor alive. For example there has been tremendous interest in the planned trip to Rome in October, retracing the Monsignor’s World War II steps. We were so delighted when the Kerry Choral Union approached us about organising a concert in his honour and cannot thank Sharon and everyone enough for their enthusiasm and support for our fundraising and awareness drive. The night of the 13th May is going to be a really special occasion for so many reasons and we hope to see as many music lovers as possible at the event in memory of the Monsignor.”
